About the Event

This training will feature educators and parents with deep community ties who want to share their stories and have strategies, tips, tricks that may help us adjust to the new “distance-learning” normal for some students with IEPs ad 504s.

 Panelists include:

  • Andrew Campbell, Special Education Instructor and youth mentor Seattle Native Rainier Beach Alumni has been working for Seattle public Schools since 2016. He graduated from Fort Valley State University 2017 With a Bachelor's In Psychology and also has a  Masters in Business administration.
  • Christianna Clinton, Single mom, special education paraeducator, full time early learning student and Early Learning/ Family advocate. She has been working with children with different needs since high school. In college, she changed her major from nursing to early childhood education after discovering a true love of children’s growth and discovery. From watching babies roll over for the first time, to seeing a nonverbal child recite their parents phone number. Her vision is for families that have children with special needs to easily access support, resources, education and community.
  • DurShrika Moore, Parent Advocate
  • Faduma Bulale,  She has lived in the South King County region for the last 25 years and is the oldest of 9 siblings. She has attended the University of Washington, been married for 12 years and has 3 kids. She is founding member of the Elmi Foundation, a nonprofit focused on financial literacy for Somali youth in Washington. She is a parent of a child with special needs and a community advocate. She believes that early intervention can improve a child's overall development. Children who receive early autism/developmental delay appropriate education and support at key developmental stages are more likely to gain essential social skills and have better opportunities as adults to live more independently.
